It was the decade of the first moon landings and the assassination of John F Kennedy. Arguably the greatest music festival of all time, Woodstock took place. Meanwhile, one man was quietly making history by bringing some of the biggest names in rock to his home region in the NE of England. Geoff Docherty is a music industry legend. Armed with nothing more than his enthusiasm and sheer determination he defied the odds and gave North East audiences the chance to see some of the world’s major bands. Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, The Who, Rod Stewart, David Bowie, Eric Clapton, Santana, Van Morrison, Free, Deep Purple, Tyrannosaurus Rex and Jethro Tull are just some of the many stars who Geoff dealt with on a daily basis. The film is based on his best selling book “A Promoter’s Tale” which is a fascinating and absorbing story of his life at the sharp end of rock and roll which is now poised to hit the big screen. In the foreword of his book John Peel describes how Geoff promoted his all time favourite gig which was Rod Stewart & The Faces
